World leaders and countries
In 2020, Australians are less trusting of most countries around the world than in the past. Australians have low levels of trust in China and Russia, and the highest levels of trust in the United Kingdom and Japan. Since President Trump was elected in 2016, Australians' trust in the United States has declined significantly. This aligns with low levels of confidence in US President Donald Trump. Australians have high levels of confidence in New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, and low levels of confidence in China's President Xi Jinping and North Korea's leader Kim Jong-un.
